Mother's Day Brunch Ideas

One tradition that has been long standing in my family is "breakfast in bed" for Mom on Mother's Day. I did it for my Momma growing up, and now my husband and son do it for me! And I love it. Here I have compiled a few healthy ideas of simple breakfast in bed by using things you may already have around your home. Granted, most of you receiving this list are the Moms, so feel free to nonchalantly copy and paste it to our husband's email. BAAA HAAA! He won't know what hit him.

START WITH A TRAY

If you don't have a tray, you can decorate a baking sheet with a pretty towel. This is a simple way to carry your items to the bed.

FRESH FRUIT BOWL

You can never go wrong with a bowl full of berries, sliced bananas, cubed apples, pear, or a peeled orange. This is something easy the kids can put together.

HEART SHAPED WAFFLES OR PANCAKES

If you have a heart-shaped cookie cutter from Valentine's Day, BONUS! But if you don't, you can certainly trim any round pancake or waffle into a heart carefully with a knife. Put two on a plate and it will show her so much love!

EDIBLE MESSAGE

It is fun to take a couple of toothpicks and make messages using fruit. You could also spell "MOM" on a plate using bacon or sausage. Make hearts out of strawberries, flowers from thinly sliced apples or pineapple. Get creative, as there is no limit to what you can do!

YOGURT PARFAIT

Layer yogurt with fruit in a clear glass, and it will take her breath away! Colorful berries show up nicely against the creamy yogurt background. Top with some cacao nibs or chocolate shavings to elevate it to the next level!

FANCY BEVERAGE

Orange juice in a crystal glass with a fancy straw is perfect. Or perhaps a mimosa, champagne, a sparkling water. And keep the coffee flowing, of course! Just the way she likes it with cream, stevia, sugar or milk. Make it ahead of time so all you have to do is fit the cup on the tray. She shouldn't have to make her own coffee on Mother's Day.

You can decorate your tray with a sweet little flower picked from your garden. Finish it off with a cloth napkin, real silverware, your child's artwork or a handmade card. Remember, it's all about the details!

Let's see those trays once you make them on Sunday. Send your entries to barbie@myrockerbeez.com
